      Pumpkins are packed with inflammation fighters: vitamin A (beta carotene), vitamin B6, C and E, potassium, and magnesium, which are excellent for bone-health and to combat arthritis. Pumpkins also bring huge benefits to the skin and coat, and contain a good source of soluble and insoluble fiber giving it the unique ability to help both constipation and diarrhea. 

      Turmeric root has powerful medicinal anti-inflammatory properties thanks to curcumin, its main active ingredient that has the ability to block the enzymes responsible for inflammation and pain throughout the body. Since chronic inflammation is the cause of most diseases, the addition of this root is essential to fight diseases such as arthritis and stiffness associated with joint and muscular problems. The combination of turmeric and bromine (enzyme found in pineapple) has shown even more impressive results.

      Ginger root is very effective in treating or preventing nausea and vomiting. From the same family as the turmeric root, it is also a very powerful natural anti-inflammatory, recommended by holistic practitioners for the potential relief of joints and muscle pain caused by osteoarthritis. 

      Sweet potato is a yellow root veggie full of antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties due to its vitamin A, C, and B (including choline), magnesium, fiber and amino acids content. Amino acids aid in rebuilding muscles that may have started to fade with old age and/or lack of exercise due to arthritis pain. Amino acids also increase antioxidant activity in the body, which free the body from free radicals that contributes to a number of illnesses. 

      Ashwagandha is an adaptogen. Rich in anti-inflammatory properties it helps with several aches and pains, and is especially useful in degenerative arthritis conditions by protecting the joints and tissues. It also stimulates the thyroid (good for hypothyroidism), reduces anxiety, fatigue, nervous exhaustion, and regulates the adrenal glands. 

      Pineapples possess anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce swelling and are rich in manganese, a mineral that strengthens the bones and joints. Pineapples also contain bromelain, which is an enzyme that helps break down protein and allows for better absorption of other nutrients. 

      Carrots contain over 200 nutrients and phytonutrients like lycopene and lutein — essential to protect eyes from free-radical damage and UVB radiation. They are loaded with vitamin C and K and other important nutrients like potassium, iron, and manganese. They are a great source of fiber, antioxidants and vitamin A, essential for bone growth, reproduction, and a good immune response. 

      Papaya is packed with vitamins A, C, E and K, and is an excellent source of magnesium, potassium, iron and calcium. Like many super fruits, it has antioxidant properties that prevent cell damage. It is low in citric acid and easily digestible. With plenty of anti-inflammatory properties, It promotes bone health and bone growth, which makes it excellent for any stages of life and excellent for any dogs that suffer from arthritis. 

      Yucca is loaded with saponins, its most therapeutic compound which is effective in reducing inflammation, pain, joint swelling, and stiffness associated with arthritis. Yucca aids digestion by helping intestinal walls absorb minerals and vitamins.  It also has high quantities of vitamin C, beta-carotene, calcium, iron, manganese, magnesium, niacin, phosphorus, protein, and B vitamins. 

      Chaga mushrooms are adaptogens that do wonders for immunity. Not only do they boost the immune system when necessary, but they can also slow down an immune system that’s running on overdrive. As a result, they can provide relief for allergies and autoimmune diseases like arthritis. Along with their numerous anti-inflammatory properties, they also provide pain-relieving benefits.

      Lucuma has a calcium content equivalent to cow’s milk, making it a great nutrient for strong, healthy bones.  It is particularly rich in polyphenols and carotenoids, two groups of antioxidants known for their anti-inflammatory properties. It also contains zinc, iron, vitamin C, niacin (B3), fiber and 14 essential trace minerals. 

      Oranges are citrus super fruits high in vitamin C, potassium, folate and thiamine, while being low in sodium. They also contain a very special flavonoid, hesperidin, rarely found in other foods, that has the unique ability to strengthen and amplify the effect of vitamin C in the body. In order words, hesperidin acts as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory to help prevent cells from mutating and initiating the development of chronic diseases such as arthritis.

      Coconut contains essential fatty acids loaded with antioxidants that boost the immune system and eliminates toxins from the body. It also contains lauric acid, a fatty acid that helps fight infections and reduce allergies. Coconut also contains albumin which helps in the formation of red blood cells. Coconut was shown to decrease inflammation, speed wound healing, and alleviate arthritic pain.

      Napa cabbage contains calcium, potassium, vitamin A & C, all important antioxidants that protect the body from infections. It’s also rich in vitamin K, which is known to be beneficial to the neurological system, and for healthier, stronger bones.

      Virgin coconut oil is a superfood and natural anti-inflammatory that helps lubricate joints. It contains Medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), a good fat made up of lauric acid, which provides an array of benefits including digestion improvement, immune system support, and antibacterial properties. Virgin coconut oil can also provide an energy boost that can help with moderate exercise to keep up muscle strength. 

      Flaxseeds are a superfood. As complete proteins, they are loaded with inflammation-reducing omega-3 fatty acids called lignans. Flaxseeds also contain healthy amounts of fiber and manganese. 

      Chia seeds are a complete plant protein containing all nine essential amino acids that cannot be made by the body and have 3 times the amount of Omega-3 fatty acids as salmon! They are an excellent source of B vitamins, phosphorus, potassium, copper, iron and zinc and they are loaded with antioxidants benefiting the immune system, skin and coat, joints, brain development and maintenance, eyes and growth. Chia seeds are also an excellent source of anti-inflammatory ALA, excellent to reduce symptoms associated with joint pain.  

      Peas are legumes that offer high-quality protein with all nine essential amino acids— valine, phenylalanine, threonine, methionine, tryptophan, isoleucine, histidine, leucine and lysine (often lacking in other vegetables), vitamins, minerals, and a good source of fiber and iron. Protein is essential in building strong bones, muscles, and healthy tissue. 

      Barley is a grain high is antioxidants, fiber and B vitamins. Its content in phosphorus, calcium copper, magnesium and zinc all contribute to improve bone structure and strength.  It also contains betaine, which the body converts to choline that is known to help reduce inflammation. 

      Black pepper is a well-known spice rich in piperine, its main active ingredient. Piperine has potent antioxidant properties that have shown to be effective in fighting inflammation, resulting in less joint swelling. Black pepper also increases the absorption of essential nutrients like calcium and selenium, as well some beneficial plant compounds, such as those found in turmeric.
